Start with how you use energy
A battery stores energy for later. Before choosing capacity, look at when your household uses electricity and how much solar is likely to be left over during the day. A recent bill helps, but interval usage data provides a clearer picture.
Check the whole system
Battery compatibility depends on the inverter, connection method and installation configuration. Ask whether a proposed system supports the battery you are considering and what changes would be needed later.
Be specific about backup
A battery does not automatically power a whole home during an outage. Ask which circuits can be backed up, what output is available and whether additional equipment is needed.
Compare more than capacity
Review usable capacity, power output, installation location, monitoring, product warranty and installation scope. Request a written explanation of the expected operation for your household.
